Camera: Nikon D3000 Context: From the observation deck of the Guthrie Theater Notes: I did really love the views from the observation deck, even though the waters are really brown and murky.
Camera: Nikon D3000 Context: Afternoon refreshment on a hot and sticky day Notes: I wasn't all that happy with any of the shots that I took, but it was too hot to go outside just for better natural light....
Camera: Nikon D3000 Context: Working on the deck Notes: I'm not really pleased with the lighting in this shot, but it does mask the fact that my computer is covered in 17th-century-document-dust that just will not go away.
Camera: Phone Context: Wildflowers along the path where I went for my run Notes: Seeing flowers along the path today was probably the highlight of an otherwise pretty sucky run.
Camera: Nikon D3000 Context: A drive through the Badlands Notes: M. and I went for a day in the Badlands. This was from our drive through before we did some easy hiking.
Camera: Nikon D3000 Context: Mount Rushmore after the evening lighting ceremony on a summer night Notes: I'm not 100% happy with this shot, but neither M. or I got a night shot we were truly pleased with even after playing around with shutter speeds and other settings. I liked this one the most out of the ones that I took after dark.
Camera: Phone Context: Bailey gets a treat after she finishes her dinner every night. Notes: This photo is pretty crappy really. The camera battery was charging so again I used my phone.
Camera: Phone Context: A stroll in the park Notes: I didn't have my DSLR with me, so I snapped a quick shot of this kite in the air. I liked how, from the perspective on the ground, it was almost the same height as the flag.
Camera: Nikon D3000 Context: An afternoon at the beach Notes: I took several of these on automatic focus on the action setting before I got one that I was completely happy with. I wanted the splash of the stone and a good view of the mountain in the background.
Camera: Nikon D3000 Context: An afternoon drive along Turnagain Arm Notes: We spotted these two parasurfers while we were stopped at a little scenic overlook. I love how tiny they look in the ocean with the mountains in the background.
Camera: Nikon D3000 Context: I'll have to start learning the names of the mountains here, but they're already becoming useful for orientating myself. Notes: The rain finally let up so that I could capture a couple of decent shots of the mist on the mountains. I snapped this shot on the way home from dinner at our realtor's home.
Camera: Nikon D3000 Context: Exploring some paths through a park that abuts a neighborhood we like. Notes: We looked at several homes in a neighborhood and our realtor suggested we explore the park I would have to walk through to get to campus if we lived there.
Camera: Phone Context: A Sunday morning in the Twin Cities Notes: I have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally made it happen. The food was excellent, fyi.
Camera: Nikon D3000 Context: Dinner on the deck Notes: While this photo is rather poorly staged, it does make me hope that we get more natural light in our next home for the sake of food photography.
Camera: Nikon D3000 Context: Lack of inspiration compelled me to take a shot of what I spent part of my day doing. Notes: Anyone want a futon or a short-sleeved leopard print jacket?
Camera: Nikon D3000 Context: Summer sky Notes: I'm a little bit at a loss for subject matter since getting back from Madrid, but I thought this sky was quite lovely. It was certainly nice to eat dinner on the deck underneath of it.
Camera: Nikon D3000 Context: Strawberry season has arrived! Notes: This isn't a great picture, as the lack of light, forced me to use manual focus to get a macro shot. Getting out the tripod would have helped.
Camera: Phone Context: Bailey hard at work Notes: It can be ridiculously challenging to capture a decent shot of my dog when she's on the move. I don't think this is one of them.
Camera: Nikon D3000 Context: An upper midwestern sky Notes: This isn't a great shot, as I took it through the dirty windshield of our car on the drive home from the airport.
Camera: Nikon D3000 Context: My friends' cute little doggy Notes: Guinness is an utterly hilarious and awesome dog who is especially fond of ladies. Also my toe nails look tragic after a half-marathon and a month of traveling....
