20/366: The Manzanares
Camera: Phone
Context: A morning run along the Manzanares River

19/366: Barely Captured Demonstration
Camera: Phone
Context: Gay Rights Demonstration in Madrid
Notes: As I was walking to meet a friend, I stumbled across a pretty large group of protestors. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me and by the time I got my American cell phone on I barely got them in the background.

18:366: Elderly Couple in a Park
Camera: Nikon D3000
Context: An afternoon stroll in the gardens in Madrid

17/366: Flowers in the Royal Botanical Gardens
Camera: Nikon D3000
Context: An afternoon in the Royal Botanical Gardens in Madrid

5-14-2012

16/366: the Puente del Toledo
Camera: Phone
Context: One of the bridges along the Manzanares River in Madrid
Notes: The city of Madrid has done incredible work in the past few years of creating a wonderful recreational space along the Manzanares river with bike paths, play areas, and green spaces. If you are a runner or a cyclist, I highly recommend it!

15/366: The Prado
Camera: Nikon D3000
Context: A Sunday afternoon at the Museo del Prado in Madrid
Notes: The Prado is my favorite museum in Madrid, and I try to go everytime that I'm in town. When I lived here several years ago it was open to the public for free one day a week. That day has since passed, but it's well worth the 12 Euro price of admission even though they no longer let you take photos inside either.

5-12-2012

14/366: La Pedriza
Camera: Nikon D3000
Context: Hiking in the countryside northwest of Madrid
Notes: This was the spot where we stopped for lunch and then turned around on the hike that I was on with a fantastic group of people.

5-11-2012

13/366 Pretty Balconies
Camera: Nikon D3000
Context: My neighborhood in Madrid
Notes: I was tired after a long day in the archives so I didn't want to go too far afield for my 365 photo. Fortunately, my neighborhood offers some great subject material.

12/366: Neighborhood Graffiti
Camera: Nikon D3000
Context: My neighborhood in Madrid
Notes: I have to admit that one of the things that I love about Madrid is its grittier side. I always wonder why graffiti artists choose a particular subject matter and this mermaid is no exception.

11/366: The View From My Window
Camera: Nikon D3000
Context: My flat in Madrid
Notes: This is the view that I have from my living room window in the apartment that I'm staying in while in Madrid. I like having an internal patio again, but this elevator freaks me out a little bit.

10/366: The Plaza Mayor
Camera: Nikon D3000
Context: Arrival in Madrid

9/366: Waiting to Fly
Camera: Nikon D3000

8/366: Breakfast at Northstar Cafe
Camera: Nikon D3000
Context: Brunching with friends at my favorite place in Columbus, Ohio
Notes: I couldn't resist having the hash and a biscuit as well as loads of delicious coffee. I didn't want to be too obnoxious by taking thousands of photos at brunch, but I could easily see how better lighting makes for better food photography.

4/366: One Month of Stuff in One Small Suitcase
Camera: Nikon D3000
Context: Packing for Columbus and Madrid
Notes: Because I'm cheap and because I don't want to be loaded down too much, I have packed for a month in a carry-on suitcase.

3/365: Summery Beverage
Camera: Nikon D3000
Context: Night out with friends
Notes: I had a fun night out with some good friends - most of whom I had hardly seen this semester. It was an unofficial send off for two of us, and a great time. I may or may not have a bit of a hangover today....
